CAFU DA TRUTH

Born on 6th October 1989 as Stephen Mwangi Njuguna, Cafu Da Truth is widely regarded as one of Kenya’s most formidable battle emcees. His nickname “Cafu” was given to him in 1997 due to his football style inspired by the legendary Brazilian right-back Cafu. Over time, he redefined the name into a powerful acronym: Conscious And Factual Undertakings Dat Are Triggered Right Under The Horizon, reflecting his sharp lyricism and thought-provoking bars. Though he once had promising football prospects, his passion for creative writing, poetry, and hip hop ultimately led him into rap.

Cafu’s journey began in the Punchlines Crazy Lines (PCL) Facebook era, where emcees battled through written bars before bringing the energy to live stages. Guided by MC Mutant, PCL recorded their first track Shida Nyingi at 32 Records Studios in Dandora alongside artists like Magode, Dabliu (Wordz), Babu Wa Nai (GBlac), Pshizzo, and MC Farrakan. They later released the album Safari Ya Kitengela, expanding the collective’s reach. Cafu truly cemented his presence in 2010 during the Sprite Unleashed Festival at the University of Nairobi, where his battle skills stood out among the best in the scene.

Also known as The Tall Rap Midget, Cafu built a legendary reputation through explosive clashes with rappers like Shakim Shallah, Young Haze, Eveready, MC Napkin, and Mpanda Ngazi. His diss track M.O.U.S.E (Moment Of Ultimately Silencing Emcees) with Samora GKV became a defining moment during the Who Is King debate, helping secure victory at Alliance Française. After dominating platforms like Where The Conversation Ends, Bar4Bar, and WAPI 2.0, he later shifted focus to music, releasing projects like Dalili za Kuomoka, Cheque EP, and the award-winning Mambo Kavu EP. Now stepping into a new era, Cafu Da Truth continues to channel his battle-tested experience into music, with a highly anticipated debut album on the way.
